There is no wishing away stress in the fast-paced life today. Today, not only an adult but a child also suffers from various anxieties and hyper tension diseases. The life of an individual is highly stressful, and the people who are unable to manage stress are bound to get depressed. Depression eating disorder is on the rise as a result of unmanaged stress.

Depression eating disorder is a stage in which a person eats excessively out of stress or guilt. There are various symptoms of this eating disorder. They are,

- eating food without feeling hungry

- hoarding food

- low self-esteem

- hiding food

- constant weight fluctuations

- negative attitude towards themselves and toward their lives

- rapid eating of food

As a result of the depression eating disorder, a person becomes obese. Obesity in turn is accompanied by various health problems. They are,

- rise in blood pressure

- kidney disease

- rise in cholesterol levels

- skin problems

- type-2 diabetes

- difficulty in breathing

- heart disease

- bone deterioration

Studies have shown that depression eating disorder develops during childhood. Children who are unable to express their feelings such as anger, misery, sadness and stress are more prone to developing this eating disorder. As a result such kids suffer from low self-esteem and eat excessively in order to feel better. Both men and women are found to suffer from this disorder, but women are more prone to this disorder.

This depression eating disorder cannot be overcome with the help of self-control or willpower alone. The help of both the family and doctor help is needed in curing this disorder. Or else, the complications developed as a result of excessive eating can even be fatal.

Eating disorder is categorized into two kinds:

- Anorexia Nervosa

- Bulimia Nervosa

Anorexia Nervosa disorder is an eating disorder in which an individual eats bare minimum food and is underweight. While in case of Bulimia Nervosa, a person eats excessively. The eating is followed by vomiting that is self-induced. Depression eating disorder is a kind of Bulimia Nervosa.

Other causes that can result in Bulimia Nervosa are extreme perfectionism and feeling of low self-esteem. As a result of such attitude, a person tends to have strained relationships with friends and family. This makes a person remain in his or her own self and gradually his interaction with people reduces. Only combined efforts of the family and doctor can help a person overcome this eating disorder. Most importantly, the disorder should be treated timely.
